South Coffs CrewPod, Led by Kendl Cramer, is for women that want to learn about fishing in a safe and supportive environment. We will learn, eat and connect with each other over fishing. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a complete beginner or an expert, this group will offer something for all levels. Come and learn and grow with us!
As a tiny tot, I (Kendl Cramer) learned to fish with my dad in our dam on our property in Lowanna, stoked with Silver Perch. At 7, we moved into Coffs Harbour and started fishing off jetty and river banks until Dad inherited an old 80’s model Quintrex tinny, just big enough to head offshore from Coffs Harbour on a good day. This was where my love for snapper was born. From here, I started entering a few local fishing competitions and after a 4 Year hiatus, due to moving to Deniliquin for my first teaching job, I retuned to Coffs Harbour and joined the local Game and Sport Fishing Club. I quickly jumped on board the committee with the offer to manage their non-existent social media. This gave me the opportunity to learn about game fishing, using the correct tackle and gear, determined by GFAA and NSWGFA. In 2022, I became Secretary of the club and made inroads in improving the running of the club.
Meanwhile, in 2021, I was head hunted by Jo Starling to join the National Committee for the Women’s Recreational Fishing League, which was a brand new idea and I was placed in as Treasurer for the first 12 months, until Laurie Anderson came aboard with much more experience in this area, and I moved across to National Secretary. As part of the WRFL, I have taken part in many experiences that I would never dreamed possible until I had WRFL in my back packet. I have gone from estuary, offshore reef and game fishing to fishing in fresh water dams for bass, both in WRFL Xfactor Tournaments and the Bass Electric Tour, skippering the 50/50 Project boat. I have learned to fly fish for trout with the best in Australia in Glen Innes and the Snowy’s. I have fished two years running in Barra Nationals on the Daly Rivet, NT. I have found myself in a sponsored team to fish the 2025 Gold Coast Flatty Classic with Destiny Marine in the Gold Coast. Not to mention the leadership and media development I have acquired over the passed few years. The league has taken me and propelled me so far forward, beyond anywhere I ever dreamed.
I now want to pass this knowledge and excitement toward other ladies to embrace and this is the way I see fit to pass this on! Please join my CrewPod and see how far you can come too.
