OUR CONSTITUTION

“Empowering Women Through Recreational Fishing”

At WRFL, we believe fishing is more than a sport—it’s a gateway to adventure, confidence, and self-belief. Our mission is simple: to grow female participation in recreational fishing across Australia until women fish alongside men in equal numbers. We envision a future where women are so well-represented in the sport that female-specific fishing organisations are no longer needed.

Our Purpose

We are a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting women’s progression in fishing. Through mentoring, competitions, and skill-building programs, we create an empowering environment where women develop self-efficacy, self-reliance, and confidence — both on and off the water.

What We Do

Our Constitution provides the framework for delivering nationwide programs that make a real impact. Here’s how we’re making it happen:

National & State-Level Programs – We operate across Australia, running competitions, mentoring events, and workshops that support women at every stage of their fishing journey.

Sponsorship & Partnerships – With the help of our valued sponsors, we bring life-changing fishing experiences to women across the country. Sponsorship enables us to place empowering resources and products directly into the hands of female anglers—giving them the tools, motivation, and inspiration to confidently embrace an adventurous outdoor lifestyle.

Sustainability & Conservation – We promote catch-and-release fishing, environmental responsibility, and ethical fishing practices to ensure future generations enjoy thriving fisheries.

Competitions with a Purpose – Our mentoring-based fishing tournaments equip women with the skills, confidence, and experience to compete in open (gender-neutral) fishing events.

How We Operate

WRFL is guided by a dynamic national board, with state chapters ensuring strong local representation. Our members include enthusiastic anglers, skilled mentors, and passionate advocates, all working together to increase female participation in fishing.

Why It Matters

Fishing is one of the few sports that carries no inherent gender bias—only individuals who choose to participate. Yet, despite this, women remain significantly underrepresented in recreational fishing. WRFL is changing the tide by ensuring that every woman who wants to fish has the knowledge, skills, confidence, and access to thrive in the sport.
