From her first cast in Moreton Bay to managing fisheries across the Northern Territory and beyond, Tricia Beatty has turned a childhood love of fishing into a career that’s packed some serious punch. With a background in marine science and over a decade spent overseeing everything from commercial to guided fishing operations, Tricia knows the water — and the industry — like few others. Her journey has taken her from quiet creeks to boardrooms, and even to Africa’s wild Okavango Delta, blending hands-on skill with bold leadership every step of the way.
As former CEO of the Professional Fishermen’s Association of NSW, Tricia became a fierce advocate for sustainable practices, safety at sea, and stronger futures for fishing communities. She’s bagged multiple awards, including the NSW Seafood Excellence Safety Award (three years running!) and a spot on Women in Seafood Australasia’s Honour Roll—not to mention the rare “Rare Fish Award” from OceanWatch Australia for her collaborative strategies.
Today, through her consultancy Fish Beatty, she continues to connect passion with purpose—helping fishers, policymakers and stakeholders navigate the ever-changing tides of the marine world. Whether she’s in a meeting room or on the water, Tricia’s mission remains the same: build a resilient, sustainable fishing future, and inspire others — especially women — to cast their own bold lines.
