SPEAKER IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Emma Kark
Project Manager, OzFish Unlimited
Emma Kark has been leading the charge on litter prevention in NSW since October 2024 as OzFish’s Tackling Litter Project Manager. Though she grew up in country NSW, her heart has always belonged to the sea. She studied marine and wildlife biology and completed an Honours project exploring the use of Artificial Seagrass Units (ASUs) as temporary habitats for fish impacted by sand patches.
Her passion for protecting waterways was supercharged while volunteering with Take 3 for the Sea, where she became deeply concerned about the impact of single-use plastics (SUPs). That concern led her to found The Bear Minimum, a Canadian-based organisation dedicated to reducing plastic waste and inspiring change through education.
Back in Australia, she joined local government as a Waste Project Officer, promoting the principles of reduce, repair, and reuse before recycling. Now, in her dream role at OzFish, Emma combines her love for fishing, science, and sustainability—empowering recreational fishers to lead the way in litter prevention and circular economy solutions.
There are events happening all the time.
